Artist Bio

From the beginning of her art career, Jennifer Life realized that it was most often the unnoticed, simple, expected, and ordinary things in life that create the fondest memories.

Jennifer can usually be found in her studio where she borrows fleeting moments and transforms them into larger-than-life reminders of the small things we should be grateful for. Jennifer annually travels overseas to visit galleries, expose herself to new cultures, and find new inspirations for her paintings. When she is not painting, Jennifer can be found skiing or running her ski lodge – the Goldminer’s Daughter Lodge, in Alta, Utah.

Artist Statement

When was the last time you slowed down enough to closely notice both the tangible and intangible elements that make up your world? For me painting has taught me to do just that. I find beauty, interest, and so much of the truth in common places like: a favorite coffee cup, a pair of shoes, a flower, and a subtle expression. By partnering with the paint, the process, the surface and the slow evolution of observation, I challenge you to see small surprises of color and moments in time. The impetus behind my single object paintings is to transform fleeting moments, into larger than life defining pauses that provoke a memory or an emotional connection with each viewer.
